About Us

Our Mission

The mission of Harbor Home is to be a safe harbor and refuge for women seeking recovery and freedom from addiction. We have had the privilege of seeing true life transformation in the women who complete all phases of our program with an 76% rate of lasting sobriety in our graduates. To date, our residents have ranged from ages 18 to 72 years and come from 14 different states seeking help for drug and alcohol addiction.

The Harbor Home program is a Christ-centered, Biblically-based home for women coming out of the darkness of addiction. We do not discriminate based on race, religion or sexual orientation. There is no charge to our residents, but, if family is able to help, we do ask for their financial support. All financial gifts are tax-deductible as we are thankful to be a 501c3 tax-exempt organization. We have seen incredible results and amazing transformations in the lives of the residents who stay the full year and complete all phases of our Harbor Home Program.

Our Values

The Harbor Home was birthed by Pastor Larry Ward and wife, Dana Davin-Ward. Along with Lauralise Shaddock as Program Director, the Ward’s felt called to create a home where women could come to learn about God, how much He loves them, how He has a Jeremiah 29:11 plan for their lives. “For I know the plans that I have for you, says, the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” This scripture speaks of God’s plan for each life. We believe that a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ changes us and we have witnessed that change in the lives of our residents. Our Values are Christ-centered Integrity and unconditional Love and Support. We believe that new creations, where the old has passed away and the new has come, is real and true and shows in our lives.

The Harbor Home Story

In 2015, Larry and Dana Ward had a dream to help people coming out of the darkness of addition and destructive lifestyles. The members of Servants Chapel General Baptist Church heard that vision and donated their debt-free church property, allowing a cozy home to be created. We turned Sunday school rooms into bedrooms, the Fellowship Hall into the kitchen and living room and the sanctuary into a classroom and worship center and the Harbor Home for Women was born.

Now, in 2026, we are moving our Phase 1 program into a beautiful new home located in Vilonia on our own street: Harbor Home Lane. We have 15 acres on which to build an entire recovery community and this. new home which will allow us to triple our impact is the first main building built, along with two beautiful staff homes already on property. Phase 2 will move into the current campus until a Phase 2 home can be built. What started with a vision to help women and small resources has grown into a much larger and thriving ministry to women, children and families who need a new life of freedom in Christ. That is why the Harbor Home exists.

Our years of ministry and helping people heal from brokenness has shown that a holistic approach is best. From this experience we created a program that addressed not only the addiction issues women face, but the underlying wounds that triggered substance abuse in the first place. Combining counseling, Biblical studies, and personal development, the phases seek to restore and equip the whole being rather than just the symptoms.

Since opening in 2015, The Harbor Home has been a refuge for over 200 women who have completed the program. We have seen a success rate of 76% of our graduates live clean and sober lives, raising their children and living and working as valued members of our community. The story is only just beginning, as freedom multiplies with every graduate and the testimony of freedom they carry into their world.
